
MISSION STATEMENT
The Volunteer Outreach Initiative Committee of Electricians (V.O.I.C.E.) has been formed to encourage IBEW Local 212 members to help represent and promote the IBEW/NECA Electrical Training Center (ETC) by means of industry specific outreach and to provide mentoring and guidance to apprentices. The V.O.I.C.E.’s mission is:
- To assist the ETC in our effort to educate individuals and organizations within our communities about the benefits of our industry and our apprenticeship programs, and to expand our involvement to reach a more diverse population. The V.O.I.C.E.will:
- Represent the IBEW/NECA Electrical Training Center within our geographical area, thereby strengthening the ETC’s relationship with area high schools and our partnerships with Community Outreach Organizations and Electrical Vocational Schools. This includes but is not limited to:
- Attendance at high school sponsored career fairs, community outreach programs, and electrical vocational activities.
- Providing personal perspectives along with current and factual information to all individuals interested in our program.
- To assist in the ETC’s effort to provide the parties of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the highest quality electricians by providing additional support with the personal challenges apprentices may face. The V.O.I.C.E. will provide mentoring to apprentices in need of advice or direction on issues such as, but not limited to:
- The adjustment of beginning a new career in our industry.
- Academic success in the classroom.
- Hands on ability.
- Facing and overcoming social and personal problems.
- The transition from apprentice to journeyperson status.
The V.O.I.C.E. shall provide a monthly report to the Committee consisting of the number of career fairs and outreach programs attended and the number of individuals being mentored.
The Cincinnati, Ohio Area Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee shall govern with full authority over the V.O.I.C.E. All individuals of the V.O.I.C.E.shall exercise responsible and professional judgment when representing the IBEW/NECA Electrical Training Center. All information used to promote the Electrical Training Center shall follow the guidelines of the Apprenticeship Standards and Policy, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
