Associate of Applied Science in Electrical Technology Degree ( per agreement with KCTCS)

The JATC has a Memorandum of Agreement with Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) giving JATC graduates a huge head start toward obtaining an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Electrical Technology.

JATC graduates who are IBEW members may enroll at a KCTCS college offering the AAS in Electrical Technology and will be awarded 47 credit hours toward the degree. There are three Specializations for the degree: Industrial Electrician, Construction Electrician, and Motor Control Electrician. Additional requirement for each specialization are: 

AAS in Electrical Technology, Construction Electrician  

 
  • Complete 18 hours general education courses as specified for the AAS Electrical Technology Program.
  • Meet KCTCS GPA and 24 hour residency requirements.
         
AAS in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electrician  
  • Complete 18 hours general education courses as specified for the AAS Electrical Technology Program.
  • Meet KCTCS GPA and 24 hour residency requirements.
  • Complete course #'s EET 276 and EET 277 or pass the challenge exam for these courses.
 
AAS in Electrical Technology, Motor Control Electrician  
  • Complete 18 hours general education courses as specified for the AAS Electrical Technology Program.
  • Meet KCTCS GPA and 24 hour residency requirements.
  • Complete course #'s EET 276 and EET 277 or pass the challenge exam for these courses.
  • Complete course #'s FPX 100 and FPX 101 or EET 265.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Once you have obtained the degree with the first specialization, you may choose to complete the remaining requirements for the other two specializations, thereby receiving an Associate of Electrical Technology with three specializations.   

How to Get Started: 

·     Obtain a copy of the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) from the JATC office. This identifies you as a JATC graduate and an IBEW member. You may obtain an MOA via email by clicking here to "Contact Us". Type "MOA request" in the "Your email message" field.

·   Register at a KCTCS campus (You may register online at: http://www.kctcs.edu/student).

·     Meet with assigned Academic Advisor (take the MOA obtained from the JATC to this meeting).

·     Meet with Technical Advisor, *Tom Collins (859-442-4106 or tom.collins@kctcs.edu Tom Collins is the Technical Advisor for Gateway Community College. If you enroll at a different KCTCS campus a different advisor will be assigned. )
